The Safe and Sound Protocol

At Eden Wellness, we offer the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) — a gentle, evidence-based listening therapy that helps your nervous system feel safer and more settled.

Using specially filtered music, SSP supports emotional regulation, reduces sound sensitivities, and makes social connection feel easier. Rooted in Polyvagal Theory, it’s like a soft reset for your body and mind.

Perfect for kids and adults dealing with anxiety, trauma, or sensory overwhelm — and it can be done in person or from home.

5 Ways SSP Supports Your Healing

1. Feel calmer and more at ease in daily life
Gently helps your nervous system move out of fight-or-flight, so you can relax, breathe easier, and feel more present.

2. Strengthen connection with yourself and others
By supporting regulation, SSP can make it easier to engage socially, communicate clearly, and build healthier relationships.

3. Support focus and emotional balance
Reduce overwhelm, improve attention, and navigate daily stressors with more resilience and steadiness.

4. Complement talk therapy or other healing work
Works alongside other therapies by helping your body feel safer and more open to change and insight.

5. Easy, gentle, and non-invasive
No medication or complex techniques — just specially filtered music, guided by a trained therapist, that supports your nervous system from the inside out.

Feel more at ease. Think with more clarity. Connect more deeply.

How The Safe and Sound Protocol Works

The Safe and Sound Protocol is offered through an easy-to-use phone app that plays specially filtered music, which you’ll listen to using over-the-ear headphones.

There are playlists designed for both adults and children, featuring familiar and sometimes new musical tracks. You can listen quietly or combine the experience with calming activities like coloring or gentle crafting — though we recommend avoiding screens, reading, or exercise during listening.

The Core program includes about five hours of listening, usually spread over several weeks. Your pace and session length are personalized to your needs and how your nervous system responds — letting your body gently guide the process.

After completing the core protocol, the Balance playlist can be used to help you maintain calm and regulation in daily life.

An initial screening helps your provider recommend the program that best matches your goals and situation.
