Ryan has been dedicated to the social services field since 2004, beginning her career by working with delinquent adolescents and their families. During this time, Ryan developed behavioral change plans and family support strategies aimed at reducing recidivism. She then spent three years at the Boy’s Ranch in Altoona, working with foster males aged 12-17, where she supported both the children and staff as a counselor and case manager.

Continuing her work as an outpatient counselor, Ryan has provided services in a variety of settings, including in-home, office-based, group homes, and via telehealth. She works with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, with a focus on trauma, sexual abuse, adoption, foster care, HIV, identity development, substance abuse, mood disorders, and early adult life transitions.

Ryan understands that seeking help can be daunting and often comes with feelings of ambivalence or fear. With this in mind, her goal is to offer judgment-free, compassionate services that promote healing. She believes that you are the expert of your own life and circumstances, and though you may feel lost at times, together, you can work toward improving your mental health, gaining confidence in addressing past challenges, and developing the tools needed to navigate current stressors in pursuit of your personal goals.

In her therapeutic approach, Ryan integrates a variety of techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, play therapy, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP).

Outside of her practice, Ryan finds peace and healing through spending time in nature, particularly hiking and biking in the Florida wilderness, where she enjoys exploring and connecting with the world around her.
